something I learned this week
This writing idea comes from Jack Appleby of Future Social (check em out). Something I Learned This Week: I have learned just how powerful it can be when you have the microphone on and pointed right at you. Just a few days ago we wrapped up the Summer Residency Program at IPG Mediabrands and I got a chance to address a virtual room of 100+ in attendance as we said goodbye to our 63 residents. I love to speak and when there is a chance to say something meaningful that will hopefully mean something to someone listening, I do not shy away. I said farewell to our residents the only way I know how: I just spoke from the heart. I related to the residents who are stepping back into the unknown by expressing that this is what I will be doing as I look for my next role, opportunity, and job. I got to quote my favorite lines from Steve Jobs where we talks about how to connect the dots, and I got to speak alongside our Global Chief Culture Officer Hermon Ghermay as she spoke on advice for how to continue shining in our careers. I'm learning more and more every day about just how powerful our voices are. To anyone out there that is unsure of themselves and thinks that their voice doesn't matter - I assure you, it does! We all have something valuable to share with the world, it's about taking a deep breath and finding out what it is you need to say!
