What are the Sunday Scaries and how do you avoid them?
I love to practice what I call Slow Sundays. I reserve Sundays for things that fuel me in a healthy way. I enjoy waking up early (7am), going to church, meditate, journal, enjoy a walk, spend time with my family, do something active like go to the gym or play pickle ball.
I find that I use to get really anxious about work starting the next day because I was feeling burnt out by the end of a work week. Because of this, I used the weekend to stay out late and consume alcohol only to wake up each weekend morning late in the day and feeling hungover, worsening that anxiety. I would spend Saturday and Sunday out all day with people instead of having alone time.
If you’re really struggling with feeling ready for work on Monday morning, consider asking yourself whether the job you’re in now is healthy for you. Are you constantly overwhelmed? Do you not have a good relationship with your teammates / managers? Do you feel the work uninspiring? These are all valid things to feel and things you are entirely capable of changing for yourself. The last thing you want to feel is stuck.
